HI Street Kitchen & Tap
Trade Winds Tavern has been converted to HI Street Kitchen & Tap by the same owners of Sipz. The interior remained the same, but the biggest change was to the menu which now had many more vegan options which makes sense because that is what Sipz is known for.
The menu was a little less diverse as it previously had a pan-Asian variety of offerings. For example, there were no more bao buns or pho. The food had a more Hawaiian fusion theme with a section for 'Pupus' and the main dishes listed as 'Eat Da Street'. On the back of the menu, there were Daily Deals, $10 Lunch Specials, and Happy Hour prices from 3-6 pm on Mon-Sat.
For an appetizer, I ordered the Yuzu Cauli + Brussels ($9) which was vegan. The two vegetables were roasted and came with raisins, a creamy yuzu aioli and an unagi glaze. The glaze gave the mixture a sweet aftertaste which I enjoyed. There was a $2 discount because of the Meatless Monday special on all vegan items.
My entree was the Chipotle Raspberry Tacos ($12) which had a vegan option of "fish" or "shrimp" or a meat option of the same two choices. I picked the regular fish this time instead of the vegan selection. The tacos were dressed with wasabi aioli, asian slaw, sriracha, and a raspberry drizzle. The combination tasted good, but the price was high for two soft tacos. Overall, I gave my dining experience 3.5 stars.
